Mozella Celestine Humphrey was born to Claude and Mary Jane Humphrey on March 29, 1920 in Falls County, Texas.
She was raised in the Spring Hill Community, where she attended school.
As Mozella became a woman, she met and married Mr. Percy D. Poole. To this blessed union two children were born.
Mozella was active at Spring Hill Baptist Church and Greater Providence Baptist Church, where she was
B.y'P.U. Director, and a member of Choir and Mission.
Her duties at St. Paul A.M.E. Church included Mission,
Stewardess, and the Youth. At St. Luke A.M.E. in
Rosebud and other churches she assisted her husband,
Reverend Percy D. Poole in his ministry. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #18 and the Texas Extension Education Association.
Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by her husband
and one child.
On Saturday, October 19, 2002, Mrs. Mozella
Celestine "Doll Baby" Humphrey Poole slipped quiet-
ly from this place to her reward. After all was said and done, "Doll Baby" leaves to cherish her memory: a daughter, Marilyn Poole Grant; four grandchildren, Rev. Carol (Rev. Quinton) Gibson of Temple, Texas, Mary (Leroy) Barnwell of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Leonard (Sandra) Grant and Robert Grant, all of Marlin, Texas; one sister, Billie
Davis of Gardena, California; three brothers, Sebron
Humphrey of Los Angeles, California, Reverend
Howard Humphrey of El Paso, Texas, and Clemon
(Macida) Humphrey of Houston, Texas; and a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
