CHENERY, Sara Lucille Bradshaw, went to be with her Lord on April 4, 2013. Longtime resident of Bon Air, she was the daughter of Claude Jenkins Bradshaw and Lucille Carson Paulette. Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Jeffries Chenery Jr. She is survived by her loving family including a sister, Claudia Miller; daughter, Lu Gay Chenery Lanier and husband, Robert; a son, Jeff Chenery and wife, Audie; granddaughter, Cortne Lanier; and grandson, Carl Lanier and wife, Natalie. Sara attended Averett College for two years and received her degree from Longwood College (Class of 1952). Sara was a Charter Member of Salisbury Country Club where she and Al shared their passion for golf with friends. She loved Bon Air and was a regular at Westover Cotillion, the Bon Air Junior Women's Club and the Bon Air Community Center. Sara loved to share good times with friends and family at their Virginia Beach cottage. A graveside service will be held in Woodland Cemetery, Ashland, Virginia, on Wednesday, April 10, at 1 p.m. The family welcomes you for a reception at the Meadow Event Park following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Lakewood Manor Benevolent Fund. Arrangements by Nelsen Funeral Home, Ashland, Virginia.
