Doris Sara Kearney, 89, of Marion and formerly of Iowa Falls, died on January 19, 2012 at her home. There will be no funeral services. Private family interment will be held at a later date in Iowa Falls. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements. She was born on April 19, 1922 in Brookings, South Dakota to Charles Webster and Bessie Ethel (Stewart) Sturgis. She graduated from Ocheyedan High School with the Class of 1940. She married William Thomas Kearney on March 8, 1943 in Chicopee, Massachusetts. He died on April 15, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Allen Dwight Sturgis, Russell Barton Sturgis, and Walter Sturgis; and her sisters, Blanche Violet DeGraff and Ethel Sturgis. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Claassen of Swisher; her son, Thomas Kearney of Marion; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
