Alva M. Hasty, 96, of Kanawha passed away Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha.
Funeral services for Alva Hasty will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Kanawha Lutheran Church, 124 West 4th Street, in Kanawha with Pastor Char White and Pastor Geoffrey White officiating. Burial will be at Amsterdam Township Cemetery in Kanawha.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Ewing Funeral Home, 118 East 2nd Street, in Kanawha and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Alva Marie (Skauge) Hasty was born August 24, 1916 near Kanawha. She was the daughter of Severin and Ida (Larson) Skauge.
Alva graduated in 1935. In 1937, she married Grover Hasty. To this union were born two children, Ilene and Steven. They started farming northwest of Kanawha in 1938, and continued farming until their retirement. In 2001, they moved into Kanawha. Alva entered the Kanawha Community Home in September of 2004.
Alva was a member of the Kanawha Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her family, her church, and the camping trips she and Grover took over the years.
Alva is survived by daughter Ilene and her husband Dale of Belmond, son Steven and his wife Shirley of Kanawha, granddaughter Kelly Clement and her husband Mark of Waterloo, grandson Scott and his wife Dina of Kanawha, granddaughter Shannon Hasty of Britt and friend Rocky Berhow of Garner.
Alva is also survived by great-grandchildren MacKenna, Clarissa, Kayla, and Ethan Hasty of Kanawha and step great-granddaughter Danielle Clement of Waterloo and many other relatives and friends.
Alva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Grover, brother Harold Skauge, sister Gladys Robb, and sister Ilene Beyer.
