Lindsey Graves Deel was born on Tuesday, August 1, 1916 in Fisher County, Texas to James Emmit Deel and Maudie Viola Sargent.

He had four siblings: Annie Florence Deel McGaugh, Bertie Mae Deel Robinson, Avery Emmett Deel and Ollie Ivan Deel.

His paternal grandparents were George Washington Deel and Florence Emaline "Galley" Brookshire and his maternal grandparents were Perry S. Sargent and Julia A. Hyatt.
His paternal great grandparents were Peter Abraham Deel, III and Isabella Serena Duff.

He married Fern Louise Calvert on January 23, 1947 in Big Spring, Howard County, Texas. They were blessed with one son, Darrell Lin Deel, who was born on October 10, 1947, in Howard County, Texas.

During World War II, Lindsey proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Gardiners Bay (AVP-39), a Seaplane Tender which was anchored in Tokyo Bay when Japan surrendered.

He died on Monday, October 30, 1972 in Coahoma, Howard County, Texas from an apparent heart attack. He was 56 years old.
