Fred A. Fettig, 101, of Bismarck, passed away on March 16, 2013 at St. Lukes Hospital in Crosby. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, March 21, at 11 a.m. at Church of Saint Anne in Bismarck with Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be held at the Orrin Cemetery.

Fred was born on January 26, 1912 to Anton and Elizabeth (Weninger) Fettig in Orrin, ND. He was raised and educated in Orrin.

He married Margaret Lacher on Sept. 17, 1934 in Orrin ND, and together had eight children. Together they farmed on the family farm in Rugby from 1934-1938 and from 1938-1948 he owned and operated his own shoe shop. He then moved his business to Crosby and where he operated from 1948 until his retirement in 1977.

Fred loved sports especially the Minnesota Vikings, the Saint Mary Saints and the Crosby Maroons.

He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his parents, brothers, Peter, Joseph and Thomas Fettig, sisters, Helen Schell, Lena Reiger and Frances Tuchsher, daughter, Lavon Muzzy and daughter-in-law Margaret Fettig.
