Robert was born in the city of Coronado, February 17, 1949. Robert died Friday evening, November 16, 2007, at the age of 58, at his home. He passed away in the loving arms of his father, Calvin Melton Jr., preceded by the death of his mother Anna Catherine in 1991 and his uncle Robert W. Melton. He was never married and lived in the same home he grew up in all his life. He graduated from Morse High School in 1967 and SDSU with a Bachelors degree in journalism in 1974. In his last semester at SDSU, he was the editor of the Daily Aztec, the school's newspaper. He worked seven years as the head proofreader for the San Diego Magazine and proofreader for the Blade Citizen of Oceanside for five years. He was in a bad traffic accident in 1991. After a year in the hospital, he went back to the work he enjoyed the most as a professional photographer. He is survived by his father Calvin Melton Jr., uncle David Melton of Cupertino, CA, his aunt Ellen Melton of San Rafael, CA, his cousins Holly Melton, Dana Melton, Rob Melton, Mark Melton, David Randolph Melton and Gregg Melton. Viewing and the Funeral Service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary on Saturday, November 24th, at 2-6 p.m. for the Viewing and the Funeral will be held in the Salli Lynn Chapel on Sunday, November 25th, at 2 p.m. Greenwood is located on 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego, CA 92112.Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com
