Liberal -- Alex J. Doerfler, 64, Liberal, died Easter Sunday, April 19 at the Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, Okla., of burns suffered in a Feb. 4 auto crash.
He was born April 19, 1917 in St. Peter.
He was married to Pauline Lang on May 5, 1939 in Hays.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the American Legion, both of Liberal, and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; one son, James, Satanta; six daughters, Betty Lash, Diana Flores, Jerry Hudspeth, Lilly Pointer, and Becky Doerfler, all of Liberal, and Debbie Brooks, Salina; one brother, Connie, Enid, Okla.; three sisters, Mary Pfeifer, Liebenthal, and Isabel Lunger and Julia Schmidt, both of Denver, Colo.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral was Thursday, April 23, St. Anthony Catholic; burial was in the Liberal Cemetery.
