The daughter of John G and Viola A. Whitehead, she married William Winter Jr. 31 December 1929 at Canton, Illinois.


Minnie Pearl Winter, 88, of 570 Custer Place died at 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 1996, at Sunset Manor Nursing Home.

Born March 18, 1907, in Liverpool to John G. and Viola Whitehead Whitehead, she married William Winter on Dec. 31, 1929, in Canton. He died Aug. 7, 1980. One son, Jack, two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Jones of Canton and Betty Downard of Peoria; one son, Blake "Butch" of Brookshire, Texas; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home. The Rev. Delmar Smith will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Sunset Manor Nursing Home.
