He married Sarah Jane Hesser in 1853 in Mercer, Illinois. They had 12 children in 24 years. He died on February 26, 1901, in Buffalo Prairie, Illinois.

Gilmore Hobart Passes Away in Andalusia at Age of 81 Years.
LEAVES WIFE AND 11 CHILDREN.
Comes to County in His Youth--Suffers Paralytic Stroke.
Gilmore Hobart, for many years a resident of Buffalo Prairie township, and one of the oldest settlers in this county, died at 2 o'clock this morning at his home in Andalusia, aged 81 years.
About a year ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis and within the past few weeks gangrene set in in his left leg, rendering amputation necessary as a last hope of prolonging his life. The operation was performed but in his enfeebled condition he was unable to survive the shock.
Deceased was born in Ohio and came to this county in his early youth. He leaves an aged wife and 11 living children, the majority of whom reside in the lower end of this county.
The funeral occurs Thursday at 1 o'clock in Buffalo Prairie.
