Michael A. Ray, 64, died Monday, February 11, 2008 at Lutheran Hospital. He was owner of el Azteca Mexican Restaurant. He was respected by his employees, as well as his patrons, and had a deep appreciation for them all. He was a devoted husband, father, and family patriarch. He and his wife were to celebrate 40 years of marriage in April and 35 years in business in November. He was an inspiration to many and his memory will live on. His life will be celebrated with a gathering at el Azteca following the funeral service. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, and daughter, Cristina; three brothers, Ronald Stevens, Larry Ray, Richard Ray; sister, Andrea Thompson; several sister and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Ray; mother, Betty Jaynes; step-mother, Betty Ray; in-laws, Pedro and Panfila Zepeda. Funeral service will be from 10:30 a.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with Fr. Jason Freiburger officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
