Leslie J. "Red" Brownell
Leslie J. "Red" Brownell, 91, of DuBois, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois.
He was born Oct. 11, 1921, in DuBois, a son of the late Henry and Carrie Buritt Brownell. He was married to Elise Hutchins Brownell Oct 28, 1945, she passed away Nov. 12, 2003.
Red was a 1941 graduate of DuBois High School and then went on to Williamsport Technical School. He was formerly employed with Airplane and Marine Instruments of Hyde, Jeffers Electronics for 23 years and Fishel Hobby Center. He also was a self-employed electronics repair man. He attended Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene and was involved with the DuBois Historical Society.
He is survived by his two children, daughter and her husband of Falls Creek and son and his wife of DuBois. In addition to his children he is survived by four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren,two step-greatchildren and one step great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Doris Cole, Betty Castle and Leona Boring; three brothers; Gilbert, Wilfred and Paul Brownell; and a great-grandchild, Sky Wilson. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Friends will be received from 6-9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Mohney-Yarger Funeral Chapel Inc of DuBois. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with Rev. Kevin Bockus officiating. Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville.
