JAMES ROBERT EDWARDS, 61, a Livermore resident for 21 years, moved to California in 1956 with his family. He attended Bancroft Junior High and graduated in 1960 from San Leandro High School. He worked as a business representative for the Machinists' Union District Lodge #190 and the Automotive Machinists' Lodge Local #1546 for many years. Jim was very active in several local organizations. He was a charter member of the Livermore Henchmen Motorcycle Club, a member of the Eagles Lodge #609, a member of the Moose Lodge and a past Sergeant at Arms for the Harley Owners Group of Oakland. Jim was active even after his retirement in union meetings and was involved in the "Hawgs for Dogs" guide dogs for the blind program. He loved to attend his club meetings and participate in club activities. Jim always enjoyed barbecuing, gardening and the auto races. He will be remembered as the last of the great wood splitters. Jim was his wife Jean's best friend, as well as her devoted husband. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Jean Edwards, his children, Jim Edwards Jr. of Sacramento, Shirley Boeder of Dublin and Tamara Greenslade of Livermore. He also leaves seven cherished grandchildren, Leroy Edwards, Jennifer Boeder, Kimberley Boeder, Heather Bouscal, James Bouscal, Elisabeth Greenslade and Rebekah Greenslade. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edison and Daisy Edwards, and by his sister, Virginia Austin. Visitation will be held Friday, April 23, from 4-8 p.m. at Wilson Family Funeral Chapel in Livermore. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m. at the chapel.
