Mary P. (Adams) Fife, daughter of Johnston and Jane (Pattrson) Fife, was born Nov 19, 1819. She had 8 brothers and sisters: Lillis Ann, Thomas Patterson, Margaret Hannah, Lt. Samuel Morgan, Sarah Ann (Hultz), Assenath Jane, Lucinda and Elizabeth Morgan.

Mary married John Fife, son of William and Elizabth (McCormick) Fife, on Sept 26, 1837 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Bethel Twp, Allegheny County, PA. They raised 11 children: William James, Elizabeth Jane, Johnston Adams, John Calvin, Mary Lucinda, Thomas P., Ella Margaret, Sarah Claribel, Ada Asenath, Samuel Morgan and Alice Rebecca.

Mary lived her entire life in St. Clair Twp, Allegheny County, until she and John moved to Canonsburg, Washington County sometime between 1870 and 1880. Mary died on Jan 29, 1898 in Canonsburg, PA. She is buried in Bethel Cemetery with her husband, John, who had previously died 1892.
