Mrs. Kan Daisy Curry, age 85, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 23, 2013 at her residence. She was born October 18, 1927 in Screven County GA to the late Mr. Budrey Johnston and Mrs. Carrie E. Johnston. Early in life she was a member of New Corinth Baptist Church and later joined Church of God Holiness of Faith where she was a Church Mother. To know her was to love her, she left a lasting impression of love on all those who encountered her. Affectionately known as "Ma Kandy", she was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, friend, sister, aunt and hostess. She loved the Lord with all her heart, mind and strength as well as showing love to everyone she met. She lived Matthew 22. 37-39 Jesus answered him, "Love the Lord you God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important commandment." The second is like it: "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." She never met a stranger, no matter if you were black or white. During her life here she as a home maker, raising her kids with the help of the Lord. She enjoyed singing, especially "Don't let the devil ride, because if you let him ride, he will want to drive, so don't let him ride."

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Budrey Johnston and Mrs. Carrie E. Johnston, per previous husbands Guy Harley, Sr. and later Luther Lee Curry, Sr., six daughters: Delois Harley-King, Verlean Virginia Harley, Darlene Curry, Jeanette Newborn, Eunice Colbert, Sarah Golden, and one son Charlie Matthews. She is also preceded in death by four sisters: Lucille Roberson, Katie M. Johnston, Mary Mobley and Mattie P. Williams; two brothers: Joseph Johnston and Rev. George A. Johnston.

She leaves to cherish her memory, eight daughters: Betty (Ronald) Murphy, Arlene Curry, Louise Bacon, Jennifer (Victor) Grant, Doris Williams, Lillie Ruth (Charles Lee) Young all of Statesboro, Thelma Pelote of Guyton, GA and Wanda Sherman of Jacksonville, FL., eight sons, Willie (Eddie Lee) Harley of Statesboro, Guy L. Datra Harley, Jr. of Roswell, NJ, Larry Harley, Andrew Harley, Eddie James (Linda) Curry, Johnny (Van) Curry and Horace Curry all of Statesboro, Milton Curry of Claxton, GA and Luther Curry, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; 80 grandchildren, 98 great grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marion Johnston; one special neighbor (daughter) Juanieta McCollum.

A visitation will be held on Friday from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at the Church of God Holiness of Faith.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, 3:00pm at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
