Daughter of Costantino Pasquale "Charley" Maggini & Mary Katherine Lertora.

Midge was born at home with the midwife assistance of Marg. Frusetta. She grew up on the ranch with many siblings and lots of uncles, aunts and cousins around the area.

Midge's father had immigrated from Biasca, Ticino Canton, Switzerland, to California with his brother Raphael Salvatore Maggini. He is found with several other Italian-Swiss Maggini immigrant families, undoubtedly all closely related, in the 1880-1900 census for San Benito, San Benito County: all ranchers. Her father died in a run-away team accident in Tres Pinos in 1906.

A long relationship with Court, living as husband and wife from about 1910 to 1920. She carried Dampier as her legal name throughout life and was warmly accepted into the Dampier clan as "Aunt Midge", living the rest of her 98 years in the San Jose area participating in family gatherings. No Children.

Midge went to San Jose before 1910, completing studies at a Business College including a secretarial course. Her sights set on becoming a nurse she received training in San Jose and also Oakland. She worked with the Red Cross in San Jose in the 1910's, in 1920 as an office girl in a doctor's office and became a Registered Nurse working with doctors in San Jose for about 35 years.

Late in life she joined the Neptune Society.

Midge was a woman of independent mind, strong sense of who she was, socially active, personable, always a radiant smile ... and obviously loved big hats (see all the photos).

Barry Michie G Nephew.
{with substantial input from Courtland Saunders, Sandy Allen and niece Karen Maggini Rubio.]
