He graduated from Lincoln High in 1960. Darrell married Ann Medals in 1975. In 2007 he retired from Quebecor at the age of 65 after 30 years of service. Darrell was a loving husband, son, Dad, and Grandpa. During his free time he loved spending time with his family, bowling, and photography. He died February 23, 2013 in Lincoln of complications resulting from a battle with lung cancer. Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Lyle Gross. He is survived by his wife Ann; daughter Deborah Eilers and husband Dave, Firth, NE; daughter Kylee Graham, Lincoln; daughter Donelle Pringle, York; son Mark Mitchell and wife Jennifer, Lawrence, KS; son Casey Mitchell and wife Shannon, Lincoln; mother Ruby Gross, Lincoln; brother Jayell Gross, Lewisville TX; sister Kathy Gross, Lincoln; Brother-in-law Dick Medals and wife Joyce, Beatrice; nephews and nieces. Darrell also was proud of 12 grandchildren: Dalton, Sam, Cassie, Lauren, Tessa, Ryal, Maris, Henry, Conner, Cayden, Ian, and Rowyn. Family requests memorials to go to American Cancer Society or Parkway Lanes Youth Bowling. Also the family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful and committed staff who cared for Darrell at the Nebraska Heart Hospital.
