BOSSIER CITY, LA - Services to honor the life of MSgt. Larry Rogers Baker, USAF, Ret., will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2013, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. James Hoover officiating. Interment will follow in N.W. Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery. The family will receive guests on Sunday evening between the hours of 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born to Lester Doud Baker and Mary Kathleen Nivens Baker in Charlotte, NC, January 21, 1946, Larry was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren, Corey Ivey and Nicole Sullivan.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Dorothy Holden Baker; their daughters, Debbie Clark of Crestview, FL, Joanna Ross and husband Butch of Keithville, LA, Carolyn Ivey of Haughton, LA; his sisters, Martha Price of Clover, SC and Diane Wallace of Pinellas Park, FL; grandchildren, Lauren Clark, Logan Clark, Jessica Sullivan, Kristina Ivey, Jason Ivey, Courtney Ivey and Breana Bagley; great-grandchildren, Sammy Willis and Skylar Ivey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry proudly served his country for 24 years as a member of the US Navy and retired from the US Air Force in 1988. He spent much of his career as a C-130 Flight Engineer flying airlift and weather reconnaissance, tracking hurricanes and typhoons. After retirement he became a truck driver and retired from the Teamsters in 2004. He became an instructor at Diesel Driving Academy in 2005. Larry enjoyed playing his guitar, singing karaoke, golfing and traveling with his wife. He was a member of VFW Post 5951, VFW 12th District Honor Guard, American Legion, Fleet Reserve Association, 317th Veterans Group and Air Weather Reconnaissance Association. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or charity of choice. You may offer condolences and sign the on-line guest book by visiting www.hillcrestmemorialfh.com .
