WASHINGTON - Gary Allen Farnham, 65, of MacDonald Road, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, surrounded by his family.

Born on Sept. 2, 1947, in Barre, he was the son of Allen and Laurette (Poulin) Farnham. He attended Washington Elementary School and graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre in 1967.

On Oct. 19, 1974, Gary married Sylvia Grenier in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. They spent all of their married life living in Washington.

Gary first worked for Paul Vermette, of Washington, for several years and then for Hutch Concrete. Later, he and his brother, Gerald, worked together in G & G Concrete. For many years, Gary continued in construction as GAF Concrete and also operated GAF Livestock. Most recently, he worked for Summit Construction in Groton.

Gary attended St. Cecilia Catholic Church, formerly in Washington and presently in East Barre, and St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. He was a member of the Mutuo in Barre and was a past member of the Canadian Club in Barre and the Washington Sno Flyers. He had served on the Washington Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment and Washington Animal Control.

Gary enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, four-wheeling, hunting and going to hunting camp. He especially liked time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Grenier Farnham, of Washington; his daughter, Nicole Corine Weiss, and her husband, Eric, of Cedar Park, Texas; his son, Nathan Rudolphe Farnham, of Washington; two grandchildren, Archer and Finnegen Weiss; his siblings, Corine Wadkins and her husband, James, of Earlsville, Md., Denis Farnham and his wife, Karen, of Washington, Judith Salvatori and her husband, Gino, of Barre, Gerald Farnham and his wife, Sheila, of Washington, Debra Washburn and her husband, Jerry, of South Barre, Natalie Tarbox and her husband, Donald, of Barre, Vicky Lorden and her husband, Michael, of East Dennis, Mass., and Lisa Wilkin and her husband, Brian, of South Barre; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Later interment will take place in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Washington. Family and friends may call at the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Following the Mass, family and friends will gather at the Washington Village School for a time of refreshments and sharing memories of Gary.
