My Great grandfather.
Affectionally called "Pappy" by his children, grand children, great grandchildren, his in-laws, and the citizens of the small town of Lofty, PA.
He built two houses in Lofty, using the original first one as both a store (the only one in Lofty) and a speak easy (which was down in the basement). Both houses stayed in the family until the passing of his daughter-in-law, Mildred Segilia, in 2019.
Son of Micheal & Mary Segilia, both immigrants from Italy. Brother to Russell, Carmella, Thomas, Louis, & 2 siblings who died in infantcy in Italy.
Husband of Elsie A. (Hoffman) Segilia. Father of Joseph E. Jr "Eddie", Harry, John, James M. "Jimmy" , Gloria and Frederick.
All of Pappy's children served in the military.
4 of Pappy's 5 sons served during World War II; John, Harry, Eddie & Jimmy. His son Freddie was too young, but served in the U.S. Air Force during the 1950's. His daughter Gloria also served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1956.
