He was born May 11, 1932 in Bountiful, Utah to Ray and Christine Hatch.
He married Dorene Anderson July 22, 1952 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple.
He served for two years in the U.S. Army in Germany.
He graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Civil Engineering and worked for the U.S. Forest Service.
After he retired, he worked for a local resort as a hiking guide.
He enjoyed running, including the St. George Marathon, and loved hiking and the outdoors and St. George.
Hal is survived by his daughters: Debrah White, Rebecca Otteson, and Sandra Whitehead; ten grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
