On 30 Nov 1837 David purchased 40 acres for $1.25 an acre; total sale of $50 for section #23 twp 02S range 02E Meridian 3 in Jefferson County, Illinois. They resided in Casey, Clark County, Illinois until 1850 before migrating to Cottonwood, Cumberland County, Illinois. After the death of her husband in 1857 Hester moved her & the children to Dolson Twp., Clark County, Illinois & are found there in the 1860 census. By 1870 she moved to Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana where she lived her remaining years. Per Terre Haute directory Hester is a residence of 17 1/2 South 2nd Street in 1890 & in 1892; her last known residence was 19 1/2 Ohio Street, Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana.
Hester died Monday, 25 Oct 1897 at the age of 97 in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana & was interred on 27 Oct 1897 in Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Per her death records she died from senility & valve heart trouble.
Hester has no headstone. Location unknown & records for this cemetery burned up in a fire in the 1960's.
