Irene Elizabeth Anderson, 86, Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2004, at the Excelsior Springs Medical Center. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at 7 p.m. at the Polley Funeral Home, Excelsior Springs, MO. Irene was born on April 19, 1918, to Frank and Golden Coates. In June of 1938, she married Daniel T. Anderson, who preceded her in death in 1986. Irene was a highly regarded cook who worked at a number of local restaurants, including the Excelsior Golf Course Kings Restaurant and the Royal Grill. In the 1970s, she worked at the "Y" Package. She was also a skilled seamstress who was generous in sharing her talents. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Anita Carol Anderson, in 1984. Survivors include one brother, Earl Coates; three children, Dan Anderson, Sandrea Anderson and husband, Dick Norris and Ron Anderson and wife, Joyce; seven grandchildren, Daniel B. Anderson, Vickie Abrams, Correnelynn Anderson, Autumn Anderson, Pryce Anderson, Jim Anderson and Staci Manam; and eight great-grandchildren.
