William "Bill" Crossman was born somewhere in Tennessee. His family moved to North Arkansas near Walnut Ridge. He met his wife, Lillie Mae Wallace in this area. They moved to Russell and Bill worked for the WPA building roads in the area during the "Great Depression". He had an accident while on the job, getting hit in the head with a crowbar. He was bed ridden for some time after. After the accident he made a living farming berries and peddleing vegetables all over the state. He is laid to rest next to his wife Lillie Mae in Carter Cemetary at Russell.
