Betty J. Aponte, 55, of P.O. Box 133, McConnellstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at 2 a.m., at Altoona Hospital. Born Feb. 18, 1944 in Williamsburg, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Rhine) Traxler. She married Manuel Aponte, who survives at their home. Mrs. Aponte is survived by five daughters: Mrs. Neal (Paula) Leidy, Huntingdon, R.D.4, Mrs. Robert (Joann) Davis, Mount Union, R.D.1, Tammy Hearn at home, Mrs. Shane (Mandy) Stevens, Kistler, and Mary Aponte, Mount Union. Eight grandchildren survive. Also surviving are two siblings, Denver Traxler, Hollidaysburg, and Dorothy Bowman, Three Springs. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Aponte was a member of the Salvation Army Church, Huntingdon. She was a member of the Salvation Army's Women's Group and auxilaries to the McConellstown Volunteer Fire Company and the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Company. Mrs. Aponte was employed as a residental aide for the Adult Development Center, Huntingdon and most recently employed by the Raystown Developmental Services. Feneral services will be held Friday Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Robert E. Peters Funeral home, Huntingdon, with Lt. Ronald T. Bernardi officiating. Interment will be made in the New Canoe Creek Cemetery, Hollidaysburg, R.R.
