Mrs. Blackwood died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 18, 1912, in Morgan County. She was a retired teacher and taught in the Morgan County School System for 32 years. She was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and worked in Bible school for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.F. “Bud” Tanner and Florence McKee Tanner; husband of 42 years, Arlin “Red” Blackwood; one son, Orlando Blackwood; and one sister, Lois Childers.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Blackwood and wife Frieda of Eva, and Byram Blackwood and wife Teresa of Holly Pond; one daughter, Loretta Patton and husband Don of Eva; one brother, Cecil Tanner and wife Wilda of Eva; three sisters, Carmon Tanner of Falkville, Elna Tanner and Eloise Maddox and husband, Jack, all of Hartselle; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dale Blackwood, Shane Blackwood, David Patton, Earl Miller, Danny Baker and Scott Lanier.
