Evening Times, Cumberland, Maryland 24 Sep 1936: "Lonaconing-Mrs. Catherine Canty Stowell, daughter of William Canty, Midland, and Isaac Stakem, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stakem, this city, were married this morning at a nuptial high mass in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Midland, the ceremony was performed by Rev. J. J. Brennan..."

The Cumberland Times, Cumberland, Maryland 19 May 1973: "Mrs. Catherine Theresa Stakem died yesterday at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland. A native of Midland, she was a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Cavanaugh) Canty. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church the sodality, and American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are her husband, Isaac Stakem; a daughter, Mrs. Paul Shear, here; a sister, Mrs. Marie Woods, Alexandria, Va., and two grandchildren. The body is at the Eichhorn Funeral Home where friends will be received from 7 until 9 p.m. and and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Monday at 9:30 a.m. with interment in the parish cemetery."
