Gerald Augustine Lipsmeyer of Newnan, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012.

Gerald was the son of Marjorie and Barney Lipsmeyer. He was born in Bigelow, AR on May 6, 1927. He was the youngest of thirteen children. He served in the US Army from 1945-1947 during WWII. After returning, he married Geraldine "Gerry" Graves on March 13, 1948. Shortly thereafter, he was employed with Swift & Co. and remained a loyal and respected employee for forty-three years. While raising four beautiful children, Gerald and Gerry volunteered their time coaching little league baseball and football and later in life they offered their services in local hospitals assisting others in need. He was an avid golfer, cook, and most importantly took pride in having the "nicest yard in the neighborhood." Gerald and Gerry retired in 1986 and three years later she passed away after a bout with cancer. In 1991, he married Doris Smith. Along with their cohorts in crime, Gerald's close relatives Rose and Bill took many trips exploring the US and Canada. He was known for his humor and sweet disposition. He lived his life with integrity and loved his family dearly. He will be deeply, deeply missed.

Mr. Lipsmeyer is survived by his wife, Doris Lipsmeyer; children, Mark Lipsmeyer of Mount Pleasant, SC, Scott Lipsmeyer of Virginia Beach, VA, Cecilia Lipsmeyer Lindsey of Canton, GA and Pamela Galle of Charleston, SC; stepchildren, Barbara Brittin of Alabama and Willie Smith of Mississippi; grandchildren, Rhett Nichols, Anna Galle, Peter Galle, Hallie Lipsmeyer, Bradley Lipsmeyer, Samuel Lipsmeyer, Grace Lindsey, Eric Lindsey and Rachel Lindsey and other such nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws.
