ALFRED ADAMS SALUDA Alfred Griffith Adams, 56, of 440 N. Main St, husband of Miriam Brazell Adams, died Aug. 4, 1992 at his residence. Bom in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Clarence Horace and Agatha Griffith Adams. He was owner and operator of Adams Red & White, Inc. He was past president of the Food Retailers Association of S.C. and was selected as the 1986 Grocer of the Year. He was serving on the Board of Directors for the Saluda County Bank, was a member of Travis Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 8. He was a former member of The Saluda Ci-vitan Club and was selected as the Citizen of the Year by the Saluda Civitan Club. He was also a former member and past president of the Saluda Jaycees, a member of the Saluda County Investment Club, and a member of the Mt Pleasant Lutheran Church where be served on the Church Council. Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home, are a daughter, Allison A. Home of Saluda; a brother, C. David Adams of Saluda; and his stepmother, Ella Louise Adams of Saluda. Services will be Thursday at 5 p.m. at Mt Pleasant Lutheran Church with the Rev. Austin Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Travis Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wayne Adams, Virgil Adams, Brooks Adams, Toby Edwards, Brabham Dukes, and Wesley Adams. Honorary escorts will be employees of Adam's Red and White and The Caper House. The family is at the home and will receive friends tonight at Ra-mey Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt Pleasant Lutheran Church, 101 N. Calhoun Street Saluda, S.C. 29138; or to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, S.C. 29260.
