∼Arlene, age 92, died Sunday morning at Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona.
Arlene Ruth Marlow the daughter of William and Nellie (Harvey) Gifford was born November 22, 1920 on a farm south of Burt and grew up on a farm south of Lone Rock, Iowa. She attended country school and then Lone Rock High School. On July 3, 1941, Arlene was united in marriage to Pershing Marlow of Burt at Fairmont, Minnesota. They farmed the home place in the Burt area for 30 years, retiring into Burt in 1975.
Arlene enjoyed her family and always looked forward to their visits. Holidays were special with everyone in attendance. She was a member of the Burt Methodist Church, and the Portland Progress Club. She enjoyed needlework, quilting, reading, gardening as well as listening to music, playing cards and title Rummy.
Arlene became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona in May, 2010, and died there early Sunday morning, February 3, 2013, at the age of 92.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Judy and husband Wayne Eckels of Britt, Iowa; Linda and husband Don Agostine of Marcus, Iowa;' Doug Marlow and wife Linda of Burt, Iowa and Lisa and husband Patrick Foertsch of Burt as well as nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister June Presthus of Algona. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pershing in 1986, a grandson Taylor Foertsch in 2012, three brothers and two sisters.
