Graveside services for William A. "Sonny" Neel Sr., 84, of Marshall were held Friday, January 11, 2013 at Yates Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Scottsville, TX. Mr. Neel passed away January 9, 2013 in Marshall.
Sonny Neel was born March 19, 1928 in Timpson, TX to Carl Richard and Vella Hooper Neel. Sonny served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was owner and operator of W.A. Neel Company, Inc. for 43 years. Sonny married Jorene Keene on July 9, 1950 in Levelland, TX. They have been residents of Marshall since 1958. Sonny was a Master Mason of Marshall Masonic Lodge #22, and had received his 50 year pin. He was an avid animal lover.
Sonny Neel is survived by his wife, Jorene of Marshall; sons, Art Neel and wife Cheryl and Russell Neel, all of Marshall; sister, Beth Joyce of Richardson, TX; sister-in-law, Vicky Bawcom and husband Dr. Jerry Bawcom; niece, Amy Bawcom; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be made to the Shrine Burn Center, 3100 Samford Ave.
