Lewis Jacob Warner was born January 12, 1866, in Woodsboro District, Frederick County, Maryland, the son of Jacob and Mary Jane Rouzer Warner. In December of 1919, in Frederick County, he married Anna Gertrude Stambaugh of Carroll County, Maryland, the daughter of Charles E. and Phoebe Weddle Stambaugh. They were the parents of one daughter, Mary Ellen Warner. Lewis passed away November 6, 1935, in Detour, Carroll County, and was buried on the 9th in Haugh's Church Cemetery, Ladiesburg, Frederick County, Maryland.

"Marriage Licenses. Lewis Jacob Warner, 53, Detour, and Annie Gertrude Stombaugh, 40, of Detour."


From the Frederick News of October 30, 1935:

"DETOUR. Miss Catherine Stambaugh, Mrs. Lewis Warner and daughter, Mary Ellen, and Mrs. Ehrart visited Lewis Warner, who has been in the Johns Hopkins Hospital for the past seven weeks. They found him betterand able to be sitting in the sun parlor."


Obituary for Lewis Jacob Warner from the Frederick News-Post of Saturday, November 19, 1935:

"Lewis J. Warner died Wednesday at 10:46 a.m. at his home in Detour. He was aged 69 years, nine months and 24 days. Mr. Warner had been suffering from complications since April. He had been confined to his bed for the last ten weeks, and also underwent treatment at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he was a patient. He was a member of Mt. Zion (Haugh's) Lutheran Church, near Ladiesburg, and also of the Bible class of the Sunday School. He was a son of the late Jacob and Mary Warner, and is survived by his wife, who was before marriage Miss Anna G. Stambaugh, and by a daughter, Miss Mary Ellen Warner, at home. The funeral will take place today, meeting at the late home at 10 a.m., with further services in Mt. Zion Church and interment in the cemetery adjoining. His pastor, Rev. J. F. Fife, will officiate and members of the Bible Class will serve as pallbearers."


From the Frederick Post of Thursday Morning, November 14, 1935:

"WARNER WILL PROBATED. Estate Is Bequeathed To His Widow And Daughter. The will of the late Lewis J. Warner, well-known resident of Detour, was probated and recorded in the Orphans Court Wednesday and bequeaths the estate to a widow and daughter. The home property, located along Double Pipe Creek and adjacent to Detour, is bequeathed to Mrs. Gertrude Warner, the widow, and Miss Mary Ellen Warner, daughter. The daughter is also bequeathed a library, two book cases and three coverlets. The remainder of the estate is bequeathed to Mrs. Warner, who is named executrix. The will is dated August 7, 1935. It was witnessed by Vallie M. Shorb and Calvin S. Lohr."
