From a story written by her grandson Leslie Linnen in the book "Edwardsburgh Family Histories": When his uncle's wife died, his grandmother Charlotte Linnen packed her personal belongings and left her home near Spencerville, Edwardsburgh Township, to go to Alberta to help her widowed son raise his two young sons. In 1937 Leslie's parents (James and Elsie) decided to leave Saskatchewan to relocate to the Spencerville area. They travelled by rail, and went to Charlotte's abandoned house, which was just as she had left it.

Charlotte died in Carstairs Alberta, which is where her son George lived. His wife died in 1933.
