HAMPTON - Mr. Lewis Eugene Carpenter Jr., a lifelong resident of Hampton, Va., died on Tuesday, March 16, 2010.
He was the owner of Economy Insulating Company until his retirement in 1991, and a member of Ivy Memorial Baptist Church and Laf-A-Lot Hunt Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Williams Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Carley Pettway Carpenter; his daughters, Brenda Ryan and husband, Mike, Susan Clarke and husband, Bobby; granddaughter, Amy Craig and husband, Chris of Arden, N.C.; granddaughter, Sally Ryan; and three great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Ethan and Grayson. He is also survived by his brother, David Carpenter; his sister, Shirley Burch; and four stepsons, Frederick Pettway of Richmond, Va., Michael Pettway and wife, Lori of Wilmington, Del., John Pettway of Dallas, Texas, and Scott Pettway of Gloucester, Va.
