Benjamin Clifford Rains was born to Sylus Frederick "Fred" and Thelma Drucilla (Melton) Rains in Marshall, Arkansas on June 10, 1926 and departed this life in Lawton, Oklahoma on January 18, 2013 at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 8 days.
Ben grew up in Marshall, Arkansas and left home at the age of 13 to live with his uncle in Tennessee until he was 18 and came back to Marshall to be drafted into the Army. After being discharged from the Army he moved to Blair, Oklahoma and married Claudia Nadine Wallace north of Blair, Oklahoma on January 10, 1946. In 1951 they made their home in Midwest City, Oklahoma where he worked as an Aircraft Electrician for the Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base. In 2005 he moved to the Lawton VA Center. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and could fix anything. He was a member of the Soldier Creek Assembly of God which is now Harvest Life Assembly of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Harrison R. Rains and a sister Myrldean Owen.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Nolan Rains and wife Dora of Spencer, Oklahoma and James L. Rains and wife Elsie of Everton, Arkansas; a sister Audra J. Fowler of Medicine Park, Texas and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., January 21, 2013 at People's Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel, Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. Burial followed in Blair Cemetery, Blair, Oklahoma.
