Olla Barara was born to John & Anna (Kupka) Kolarik in Crete, Nebraska. She attended Crete Public Schools and graduated from Crete High School. She then taught in the Rural Schools near Crete. She married Dr. W. J. Kavan on June 1, 1914. They lived in Bee, Nebraska until 1917 when they moved to Dorchester, Nebraska. In 1917 they moved to Clarkson where Dr. Kavan practiced medicine until his death on Aug. 19, 1960. Mrs. Kavan assisted her husband in his medical practice until his death. She continued to make her home in Clarkson until Dec. 22, 1969, when she became ill and was taken to Oklahoma City to be near her son, Dr. Lucien Kavan. She passed away there at the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 17 days. She was a member of the Clarkson Womens Club.
