After an illness of several months,
Jacob Allenbach passed away at St. Eliz
abeth's hospital Tuesday afternoon at
3:30 o'clock. Mr. Allenbach recently un
derwent an operation for gall stones, but
his undermined constitution was not
strong enough to recover.
For the past fifteen years Mr. Allenbach
had been in the employ of Christ Grass
at the Wabasha Brewery, being an effi
cient brewmaster. Previous to that time
he was employed in the same capacity at
Burkhardt's old brewery and at the Alma
Brewery. Jacob Allenbach was born in Dettweiler,
Zabern, in the province of Alsace, Ger
many, August 20, 1843. He emigrated to
America in 1865, coming ro Read's Land
ing. On September 2, 1882, he was mar
ried at Wabasha to Mary Sommerhalter,
and they have lived here since. Mr. Al
lenbach is survived by the widow and
four daughters, Mrs. Fred Schill, Mrs.
Frank J. Lager, and the Misses Alice and
Dorothy, all of this city.
The funeral was held this afternoon at
2 o'clock from the residence, Rev. Thomas
Billing officiating.* Interment was made
in Riverview cemetery. Mr. Allenbach
was a quiet reserved man. industrious, in
terested in his work and his family. He
was a member of the Odd Fellows.
