Civil War Union Army Officer. The younger brother of Colonel Edward Burd Grubb, he was commissioned as 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Adjutant of the 100-Days enlistment regiment 37th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry (which was commanded by his brother). He served until he sickened from typhoid fever, and died at Spring Hill, Virginia on August 11, 1864. He lies next to his parents, and is buried only a few yards away from his brother Edward, who was eventually brevetted Brigadier General for his Civil War service.
