Cruz Scott Rivera

DRESDEN: Cruz Scott Rivera, 17, of Nashport, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday morning, January 19, 2013 at his home.

During his 17 years on earth he touched many lives and was loved deeply by his family and friends. His life was brief, but it was a gift to all that will live forever as our memories of him will be close in our hearts.

Born August 14, 1995 in Coshocton, Ohio he was a son of the late Samuel Ray Rivera and Wendy L. (Sherfy) Rivera Wyckoff of Nashport. Cruz was a member of the Junior Class at Tri-Valley High School. He attended summer camp at Camp Echoing Hills for six years and was a team member for Miracle League Baseball in Zanesville since it beginning and was known as "Pork Chop" Rivera. Cruz loved watching Gus Macker Basketball and some of his other favorite things were football, music, walking the dogs with his grandpa, parties, riding in the car, eating out, school and visiting with family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his loving step-father, Dano Wyckoff; three brothers, Brady Sherfy of Zanesville, Devin and Derik Rivera both of Coshocton; one sister, Darcie Rivera of Zanesville; one step brother, Dennis (Melissa) Wyckoff; a step sister, Melissa (Daniel) Ruiz-Nunez; his grandparents, John and Sue Adams and Bob and Rosemary Sherfy all of Nashport; a nephew Parker Hendrix; a niece Josselyn Wyckoff and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Wanda Orr and Samuel Rivera.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8pm Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Andrew Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Dresden Cemetery.
