EVELYN L. BALL, 85, died at 7:53 am. July 6, 2006, at her residence.

She was born April 17, 1921 in Ottawa to William and Altha Neubert Frey, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 14, 1946, she married Frances (sic?) Ball, who survives in Ottawa.

Mrs. Ball was a homemaker and secretary for the former Ohio Fish and Game Conservation in Ottawa. She also formerly worked at Tony's Dairy Queen and Red Top Pizza. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. She had many hobbies, liked helping needy people, and enjoyed collecting. During the Vietnam War, she was known as "Mrs. Vietnam" for sending letters and goody packages oversees (sic) to 77 servicemen.

Survivors also include two sons, Jim Ball and Kevin Ball of Ottawa; a daughter, Rosie (Rodney) Sutter of Ottawa; a brother, Clarence Frey of Leipsic; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Tom and Duane Ball; three brothers, Jim "Jinx", Carl, and Charles Frey; and two sisters, Mary Otto and Dorothy Dauer.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at SS. Peter ad Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. The Rev. Tim Knepper will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Love Funeral Home, Ottawa, where a Scripture services will begin at 2:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Home Health, Putnam Acres Care Center or a charity of the donor's choice.

OTTAWA -- Mr. and Mrs. Francis 'Freddy' Ball of Ottawa, will celebrate 50 years of marriage with a family dinner followed by an open house from 2-4 p.m., Feb. 11, 1996, at the Schnipke Inn in Ottawa. The couple request that gifts be omitted.

Ball and the former Evelyn Frey were married Feb. 14, 1946, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ottawa, by the Rev. Lee Landoll.

They are the parents of two sons, Jim Ball of Upper Sandusky and Kevin Ball of Ottawa; and one daughter, Rose (Rodney) Sutter of Ottawa. Two sons, Tom Ball and Duane Ball, are deceased. They have five grandchildren.
