Mrs. Delia Marie Merrell Broadway, age 92, died Monday, March 20, 2017, at Van Ayer Healthcare and Rehab in Martin.

Graveside Service will be Friday, March 24, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at East Side Cemetery with Rev. Scott Chadwick officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Family and friends may assemble at 10:45 A.M. in the cemetery.

Mrs. Broadway was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Broadway; her parents, F.C. Merrell and Dealie Bell Ferguson Merrell.

Mrs. Broadway retired from Milan Arsenal and she was a member of First Baptist Church in Martin.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Bing of Martin; her sons, Gary (Bonnie) Broadway of Rolla, MO and Kenneth (Nina) Broadway of Yukon, OK; two sisters, Loretta Ekis of Overland, KS and Faye Hand of Ardmore, TN; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren.

Marie was born in Lincoln County, TN to Fountain Clay Merrell and Dealie Ferguson Merrell. She graduated from Ardmore High School, Ardmore, TN in 1943. She married William Howard Broadway August 13, 1942. They had 3 children: William Gary, Angela Carol and Kenneth Howard Broadway. Marie and Howard lived in Ardmore, TN, Tullahoma, TN, Troy, Alabama, Huntsville, AL and Martin, TN. Howard worked for TVA and Marie worked for the Department of the Army at Redstone Arsenal and Milan Arsenal. She was a talented woman who enjoyed reading biographies, working crossword puzzles and journaling. As a widow, she lived alone until Dec. 20, 2016 when she become unable. In her youth, she loved to play Tennis, and throughout life she was a Tennessee Vols fan and a Cardinals baseball fan. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Martin, TN at the time of her death.
