Mrs. A. Marian W. Hoffmann, 78, died Saturday evening in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Karl A. Hoffmann, 28 North Sixth Street. Death resulted from a series of heart attacks over a period of almost a year.
Mrs. Hoffmann was born March 24, 1880, in Philadelphia, a daughter of Harry L. Winslow and Kathryn (Wert) Winslow. Her father was a lineal descendant of Edward Winslow, the first governor of Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts, who came to America aboard the Mayflower.
Mrs. Hoffmann was educated in the public schools of Norristown and attended Norristown High School. She was married to Hermann Hoffmann, April 14, 1903 in St. John's Episcopal Church, NOrristown. To this union were born two sons and a daughter, Karl A., Shamokin; Hermann C., Lima, Ohio; and Mrs. Earl C. Hoffmann of Queens Village, Long Island. Mrs. Hoffmann is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Clara Rivel, Kirkwood, Missouri and Mrs Blanch Hoff, Rochester, N.Y. Seven grandchildren an two great-grandchildren survive, also.
The lat matron and her husband moved to Clearfield in 1906. Mrs. Hoffmann was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Clearfield, and was president of St. Agnes' Guild of that parish. She served three years as treasurer of St. Andrew's United Thank Offering committee. She was a member, and served a term as treasurer, of the Woman's Club of Clearfield and ws a member of its Choral Society. She was a member and served a term as president of the A. H. Woodward Sunday School Class of Trinity Methodist Church, Clearfield, alsol.
Following the death of her husband in 1943, Mrs. Hoffmann moved to Shamokin in 1952. Since 1957, she made her home with her son and daughter-in-law. While a resident of Shamodin she attended Trinity Episcopal Church and was a member of St. Mary's Guild of that parish.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 tomorrow morning in Farrow Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles A. Flook, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, in charge. Burial will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park, near Clearfield. Friends may call at the funeral home this evening, from 7:00 until 9:00.
