ASHTABULA — Della Forinash, age 104, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away early Monday morning, Jan. 14, 2013, at Saybrook Landing Nursing Center in Saybrook Township.
She was born Sept. 21, 1908, in Hermonia, W.Va., the daughter of Jacob and Daisy (Summers) Casto.
She enjoyed her gardens and will be remembered for her patchwork quilts. Della was honored to be interviewed and included in Carl Feather's book, "Mountain People in a Flat Land."
Della is survived by her two sons, Alan (Jo Ann) and Bill (Diane), both of Ashtabula; daughter-in-law, Delores (Dick) Peura; grandchildren, Steve and Brett Forinash, Tim Forinash, David Forinash, Debbie (Jim) McElroy, Linda (Ron) Champlin, Jeff (Roberta) Forinash, Kathy Dow, and Karen Hitsman; 21 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Novel; son, Dana in 1979; great-grandson, Joshua Forinash; great-great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Collins; and brothers, Homer, Willard, Clifton and Gideon.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 17th, at POTTI LAKESIDE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Larry Emory, of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Saybrook Cemetery.
A Calling Hour will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of Service, Thursday, at the Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula.
