Mr. Arthur Lamar “Chipper” Wilson, age 64, of Shannon passed away Friday January 11, 2013, in a Rome Medical Center.

Mr. Wilson was born December 3, 1948 in Floyd County, GA, son of the late Lamar Eulis Wilson, and Edith Langston Wilson. He was raised in the Shannon area, was a member of Shannon First Baptist Church and graduate of Model High School class of 1967. He was employed by Mohawk Industries. Mr. Wilson was a veteran of the 1St. US Army Co C 6th Billion 32nd Armor Division of the United State Army, where he served in Vietnam. For his service he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal. In his later years, Mr. Wilson was most known for the deep love he had for his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers in law, Stanley Payne, and Randy Lloyd.

Survivors include his wife, to whom he was a caregiver, Cindy Locklear Wilson; children, Patrick Brooks, and his wife, Stephanie, Rome; Thomas Brooks, Rome; sisters, Carol Gore, and her husband, Gary, Charlotte, NC; Betty Payne, Rome; Edie Lloyd, Rome; grandchildren, Dakota Brooks, Logan Brooks, Sydney Brooks, and Hailey Brooks; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday January 13, 2013, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kevin Lloyd officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with military honor conducted by Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard of the American Legion.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service on Sunday, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Pallbearers include Rick Payne, Joey Powers, Stephen Padgett, Kevin Lloyd, Andy Lloyd, David Gore, and Nathan Buechlein.
