Randy Herbert Rissman was born on October 26.1949 at the Hall Hospital Waukon , Iowa the son of Herbert Julius and Bonnie June Pederson Rissman, He was baptized at home and confirmed at the German Church in CHurchtown Iowa. Randy attended the rural Lycurgus Rock School and graduated from Waukon High School in 1967. He farmed with his parents before entering the Army in December 1972. He returned to the Waukon area where he farmed and worked a short time time at Northern Engraving . On June 26, 1976 Randy married Dianne Clark at St Paul's Methodist Church in Waukon . Together they farmedin the Rural Postville area raising crops and a registered Holstien dairy herd.
Randy was a member of St Paul's Methodist since marriage. He was an active member and past Post Commander of the local American Legion. as well as their drill team and military graveside detail. Randy was also a member of Farm Bureau and State and National Holstein Associations. Both he and Dianne enjoyed playing on softball teams for many years. He was an avid sports fan especially football and baseball and like watching television and learning about local history. He loved animals especially his dog Shadow. and like watching and feeding the birds and animals on the farm. Randy enjoyed visiting with people , and showed a sincere interest in them . and was known for his terrific memory of names and dates.
Surviors include his wife Dianne of Postville, a son Robin at home , his mother Bonnie Rissman of Waukon 2 brothers , Rick and Sue of Cedar Rapids, and Reggie and Lori of Luana, 2 sisters Rhonda and Russell Hennum of Harpers Ferry and Renay and Danny Gallagher of ALbernett. and numberous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Herbert.
