Declaration
In order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress of the 7th July 1838 etititled "an act granting half pay and Pension to certain widows" State of New Hampshire Grafton County

On this 14th day of June 1843 personally appeared before us the subscribed D.C. Churshell a Justice of the Court of Common Pleas within and for said County of Grafton ANNA BARRETT of Lisbon in the County of Grafton and State of New Hampshire aged 69 years who being first duly Sworn according to law doth in her oath make the following Declaration in order to obiain the benefit of the provision made by the Act of Congress passed July 7, 1838 entitled "an act granting half pay and Pension to certain widows"
That she is the widow of Lemuel Barrett of Lisbon in the County of Grafton and State of New Hampshire who was a private in the Army of the Revolution and a Pensioner of the United States upon the Rolls of this New Hampshire Agency at the rate of thirty dollars per annum under the act of June 7, 1832. No. of his Pension Certificate 10878
She further declares that she was married to the said Lemuel Barrett on the fifth day of May in the year Seventeen Hundred and ninety two, that she was not married to him prior to leaving the the service but this marriage took place Previous to the first of January Seventeen hundred ninety four vis at the time above states.
She further states she does not know whether her marriage is recorded in the Town of Peirmont in the State of New Hampshire where it took place and she has no family record now in her possession. She formerly has a record of her marriage and birth of her children in her Bible but the Bible is worn out and destroyed and she did not keep a copy of the record Her name before marriage was Anna Chase she lived in Haverhill New Hampshire before her marriage and the said Lemuel Barrett lived in Peirmont in said State and we were married at the time aforesaid in said Peirmont and resided there until the month of January after our marriage but then moved to Vershire in the State of Vermont and lived several years years and several of her children were born in said Vershire and a part of the childrens births are recorded in said Vershire as she believes she further states that she has had twelve children by said husband five of whom only are now living we moved from said Vershire to Orford New Hampshire and lived a while and then we moves back to said Vershire when his land a from thence was moved to Lisbon New Hampshire where the same and now resides

Sworn to and subscribed on the day and year above written before DC Churchill JCC Pleas I certify that by reason of body infirmity the said applicant cannot attend the Court DC Churchill JCC Pleas State of New Hampshire Grafton County

State of New Hampshire
County of Grafton on this fifth day of June AD 1855 personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for the State and County aforesaid Anna Barrett aged eighty one years a resident of Lisbon in said State who being duly sworn according to law declares that she is the widow of Lemuel Barrett who was a Soldier in the war of the Revolution and a Pensioner of the United States at the rate of thirty dollars per annum under the Act of 1832 that she is in receipt of a Pension from the United States under the Act of _____ at the same rate per annum that her husband drew and that his name is on the Roll of the Concord, NH agency.
She further declares that she was married to the said Lemuel Barrett in the town of Piermont in same state in the month of May AD 1792 that her same husband died on the 4th day of October in the year 1842 that his her name before this same marriage was Anna Chase and that she still remains a widow She makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty Land to which she may be entitled under the Act approved March 3, 1855. signed Anna Barrett (her mark) Abigail R. We Abigail R. Barrett and Cordelia Clough residents of Lisbon in same State of New Hampshire upon our oaths declare that the foregoing declaration was signed in our presence by the said Anna Barrett and that we believe from the statements and approve of the declaration that she is the identical person she represents herself to be.

Reverand Charles Cowing who is my son in law or who married my daughter and with whom I am now residing and have resided since I came to Lyman to reside as aforesaid that I am the identical widow of the late Lemuel Barrett before named and am also the identical person to whom said Land Warrant was issued July 6, 1857.
