Mr. Capps was born in St Helena and lived in Middletown until he joined the Navy at the age of 18. He attended local schools and received a football trophy for the longest pass made by the Middletown Mustangs in 1942. He served in the Pacific during World War II receiving a Victory Medal and a Purple Heart. Mr. Capps was present in Tokyo Bay when the Japanese- American treaty was signed. He returned to the Bay Area after the war and owned several businesses before going to work as a maintenance engineer at Doctors Hospital in Pinole. He retired in 1986.
