Knudt Mikkelsen Lono was the son of Mikkel Knutson Lono and Marta Andersdotter Hegerland of Roldal, Hordaland, Norway. He married Carrie Eriksdotter Roalkvam in 1848. In 1850 he immigrated with his parents to Dane County, Wisconsin, soon locating in Lindina Township, Juneau County, Wisconsin. About 1864 Knudt's family moved to Lura Township, Faribault County, Minnesota. He had six children: Mitchell, Ole, Helen, Eric, Martha and Knute. Knudt was a farmer. He was one of the founding members of the East Delavan Lutheran Church which was formed in 1886.
