Margaret was the daughter of Henry Thomas Sharp and Celia Freeman. Sister to William, Sarah C., Sidney, John G., Benjamin, Martha Susan, Damey Elizabeth, and Nancy Sharp. In 1874, she married Harvey Carman. Children in this union were: William L. John, Allen Blue, Priscilla Wallace, Sarah Elizabeth, Henry Encoh, and twins, Caleb and Joshua.

Margaret was a native of Kentucky and came to Texas with her husband about 1895, locating first near Anna, Texas and later moving to Leon County. After the death of Harvey, she moved to the Princeton Community where she lived among her children. She was a consistent member of the Baptist church for many years.

Margaret died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Rollins of Kingston, Okla. She was 73 years, 11 months, and 24 days old.
