By November 1870, the family was living in Precinct No. 5, Austin County, Texas. The post office was Industry.

He served as First Lieutenant in Company A, 23rd Brigade, commanded by J. R. Sayles. On April 10, 1864, he enlisted at Camp Travis in Hempstead as a Private in Company A, 20th Texas Infantry Regiment. This Regiment was known as Elmore’s Regiment. This unit patrolled the coast from Galveston to the Sabine River. His military records are included in the photos.
